What do you see when you look at this image? Is it nothing more than a Californian beach at sunrise? To me, it symbolizes death and rebirth. Every day the sun rises in the east and sets at the end of the day, only for the cycle to repeat ad infinitum. This cyclical motion is reliable and sturdy, something we can literally set our watches to, and yet we take it for granted, just like the nature adorning the scene. The sand at the bottom of the image reinforces the fragility of life through its evolution from one form to another.
