This painting represents a general expression of doubt and distrust, implying a situation may not be as it appears. The Devil can be convincing and deceptive in letting us know his way is best. If we were able to foresee where he is taking us, we would never follow him. At times, we willfully turn our backs on the truth, believing his lies. So this piece serves as a reminder that “The Devil is a Liar.”
When I first decided to do this painting, I didn’t exactly know how I was going to convey my idea, but I knew I wasn’t going to give a great amount of detail to the devil’s face. I also wanted to show defeat and an entity (Holy Spirit) interfering with what the Devil is trying to accomplish. While abstract art is not mainly my niche, this one came to me naturally and once I started it, I knew exactly the look I was going for.

“You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” John 8:44
