Art that inspires through its honesty

I thought long and hard about creating a piece of art that immortalizes the Twin Towers. On one hand, I understood the importance of creating something beautiful to counteract the atrocities that occurred at the World Trade Center. On the other, I didn’t want to stir up bad memories for those involved in the events that day, or be seen as an artist that profits from tragedy. Ultimately, though, I felt that if I didn’t create a piece of art showcasing the beautiful architecture of the towers and the other stunning buildings around it, standing tall in a show of defiance, then I would be doing those who suffered and perished in the tragedy a disservice. This art is as much for them as it is for the purchaser, a celebration of human accomplishments and their strength in adversity.
